Iran is willing to reinitiate nuclear negotiations with the United States as long as it is handled with "dignity" and "honor", Iran's foreign minister has announced.

The Iranian diplomat stated only diplomacy produced results, and shared fresh requests had been made by go-betweens to reopen negotiations with the Trump administration. He asserted Iran had zero unreported enrichment locations, and Tehran could not yet allow the global atomic watchdog to inspect struck enrichment centers for safety concerns.

Walking a Challenging Route

Araghchi is treading a challenging route since Iran does not want be seen to be acting from a position of weakness, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had come out more powerful in military terms and emotionally from the joint assault on its nuclear sites in June.

He was addressing at a defense forum in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "an inalienable right to enrich uranium on home soil that it will always maintain" – the primary cause of the deadlock in the prior discussions.

Earlier Discussions Suddenly Ended

The earlier sessions of discussions between the United States and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and bitter termination on 12 June when Israel, with Washington's assistance, attacked Tehran's atomic facilities in a 12-day war that ended with the US president claiming the facilities had been obliterated. Subsequently, Western states used their privilege to reimpose international penalties, but Iran insists they have not had a major impact.

Magic Solution Suggested

Tehran representatives stated they felt they had achieved a "magic solution" to the nuclear fuel concern in prior discussions, when it was decided an Iran-based consortium with Washington's engagement could process nuclear material. The two nations would have been able to assert triumph since local refinement would have remained and the US could be confident that Iran's atomic project was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been settled in the discussions that Washington's technical specialists could work inside Iran, but that was a natural consequence of the partnership suggestion. Diplomats stated three times they had achieved a deal with Trump's special envoy the US official only for the arrangement to collapse due to "opponents in the US".

Current Position

Iranian officials stated the consortium offer was now no longer available, but it seems very probable the suggestion could be reintroduced in various formats if discussions resume.

Trump last week stated he had been obtaining communications that Iran sought to resume discussions, but in private Iranian officials say they are not yet getting consistent overtures from America either explicitly or from significant local go-betweens, such as Qatar, Egypt, Oman and Saudi Arabia. Political Standpoint

In his remarks to the conference, designed to depict the US as a dominant force that misuses the notion of international law, the foreign minister stated the 12-day war demonstrated the dispute could not be settled by combat operations. He said the attacks commenced with a US demand for an total Iran submission and culminated with an absolute demand for a truce.

"In case they talk to the citizens of Tehran with the approach of respect and honor, they will obtain a response in the identical approach."

Repair and Reconstruction

In what is characterized by Tehran representatives as the battle of repair and reconstruction, Araghchi claimed he was assured Iran's security strengths "are considerably enhanced than prior to 13 or 14 June of this year. Our entire military infrastructure have been restored. We learned numerous insights from this conflict; we have identified our personal limitations and the vulnerabilities of the enemy."

He stated: "We effectively endured this war. Our enrichment knowledge, which they intended to destroy, continues to exist. The sites and gear, if eliminated, will be reconstructed; what is essential is the resolve of the Iranian people and then the unity of the country that they targeted, but were unable to break. The nation of Iran have developed more powerful, more united, and more endorsing of the leadership and the state in the aftermath of this attack."
