A comeback Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-term coach his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Victory also means he has won 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour victory, took control to create a third set.

He saved four initial break points in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
