2K Games has welcomed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to lead the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the forthcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as Project Ethos.

Management Shift Comes After Mixed Response

The new appointee takes on the leadership position at 31st Union following the dismissal of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' disappointing early showing last autumn.

On Wednesday, the company's top executive a key figure informed team members about this organizational change through an internal memo, which emphasized that early feedback sessions had revealed the necessity for a distinct direction.

Ismailer noted that the developers is now overhauling Project Ethos with a refreshed approach, aiming to better meet gamer demands.

A Pattern of Key Acquisitions

The news echoes a similar move taken by 2K Games in August, when they hired Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to assist with the BioShock development group.

The community feedback from last fall’s the game playtest was enlightening. It affirmed the promise of a action-packed game but made clear we still had refinements needed. It uncovered the requirement for a clearer vision.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve progressed. You accepted the feedback to mind and revamped Project ETHOS with a refreshed vision - one that’s positioned to deliver on its ambition to our fans.

The belief in this project strengthens every day. To further the outstanding progress you’ve made, I’m excited to introduce Ben Brinkman as the new Director of the team. After some time of discussions, Ben officially joins us on next week.

Ben’s guidance and experience in the PVP shooter genre is vast, having spent the past decade and a half producing and managing some of the most recognizable franchises in the industry, including the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, Apex Legends.

The appointee currently serves in the position of executive producer and head of production at Respawn Entertainment for their flagship title. He previously worked at major gaming companies in various production roles on the Call of Duty games, and, before that, had stints at 2K and Electronic Arts.

Title Details and Concept

Project Ethos was revealed in last year in conjunction with a early access event. At the time, the developers described the game as a "no-cost, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an innovative evolution on the style."
